CADLAN, PILI – Camarines Sur Vice Governor Fortunato “Ato” C. Peña made a surprise, unannounced visit on July 13 and 14, 2010 to the towns of Tinambac, Sipocot, Ragay, and Libmanan to personally conduct an ocular inspection of devolved hospitals in line with the onset of an implementation of an aggresive health program for the province.
The visit kicked off the modernization plan for the upgrading of the health facilities of the provincial-run hospitals to ensure a more comprehensive health service that will benefit the constituents of Camarines Sur especially those residing in far flung barangays.
In his capacity as chairman of the “Camarines Sur Task Force on Health” by virtue of Executive Order 003, s. 2010 issued by Gov. LRay Villafuerte, Peña bared his plan to modernize the existing health and medical facilities including the possible conversion of Rural Health Units (RHUs) and Barangay Health Stations (BHS) into first class clinics and medical facilities covering basic emergencies, maternal, obstetrics, and newborn care cases.
Plans are also in the offing to upgrade the present Provincial Health Office (PHO) based at Banasi, Bula, Camarines Sur and expand its coverage and service because it serves as the base of the public health workers as they manage and coordinate the various health programs in Camarines Sur.
This comprehensive program on health is just one of the multi-sectoral tasks that the provincial government is eyeing for the quick delivery of basic services to the constituents. – Andujar
