Daet mayor off to US

DAET, Camarines Norte — Mayor Tito Sarte Sarion  was chosen as one of the 25 local chief executives from among the 1,496 municipalities in the Philippines as a faculty member  of the Mayor’s Development Center, a flagship project of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP).

Sarion will undergo a training program called Effective Coaching. Of the country’s champion mayors, Mayor Tito was chosen because of his effective programs on Tourism, Culture & Arts, as well as Development Entrepreneurship.

Last 2007-2010 LMP term, he served as presidential assistant for Culture and the Arts and successfully hosted the 2nd World Arts Experience (WAE) promoting the Millennium Development Goal (MDG).

Sarion was in government service for 24 years. He started  in a very young age of 18, when he served as youth representative, councilor, vice mayor and now mayor of Daet.

Meanwhile, Daet will become the newest sister city of College Park, Maryland, USA. The memorandum of agreement signing will take place on Aug. 4, 2010.

Sarion in his official trip to US will also attend the International Sister Cities Conference on July 28 to 30, 2010 at Alboquerque, New Mexico, USA.

He will also grace the gathering of Daet USA Association with core groups in New York, Oregon, Las Vegas, Nevada and San Francisco, California to discuss Daet Direction of Governance and Development Strategies through Daet on the Go Program.

It is expected that the Sarion will generate support for his flagship projects on tourism investment such as the Bagasbas Beachfront Project, the Gawad Kalinga, Scholarship Program, Enhanced Program on Environment, Education and Health, as well  construction of the Daet Astrodome.
