Melvin del Puerto, president of Central Bay Development Organization and a member of Metro Naga Chamber of Commerce and Industry presented on July 9, 2010: “An Aggregate Economic Development Initiative for the Municipality of Calabanga” to Mayor Evelyn Yu, Vice Mayor Philip Dumalasa, members of the Sangunihan Bayan, LGU heads of offices, and the officers of Calabanga Business Club.
The economic development initiative focuses on multi-sector participation in the formation of Municipal Coordinating Council for Economic Development.
It plans to establish Calabanga as the commercial hub for the surrounding municipalities of San Miguel Bay; Siruma, Tinambac, Bombon, Libmanan (Cabusao)and part of Cam. Norte (Mercedes), among others.
Jorge Palma and Marlon Ragrario of Metro Naga Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Ernie Verdadero, former provincial board member also endorsed the economic initiative.
The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s vice president for Southern Luzon, Apolinar Aure, paid a courtesy call to Yu just before the May election to assure the her of the chamber’s full support in making this economic development initiative a success.
