The Naga College Foundation (NCF) was one of the venues of the hailed biggest single day medical and dental mission in the country – the Bombo Medico Medical & Dental Mission 2010 held on July 11.
Simultaneously occurring in other 24 key cities in the Philippines, this medical & dental mission was able to help around 30,000 Filipinos. In Naga City alone, estimated turn-out were about 1,500 participants.
The NCF provided the venue, facilities and the manpower to make this medical/dental mission a success. As early as 7 a.m. a mass was held at the NCF Quad to provide enlightenment and guidance to all the participants.
It was officiated by Fr. Felix B. Barela, NCF chaplain. A simple program started the event wherein short messages were given by Angelina D. Galupo, Bombo Radyo Naga’s acting station manager; Col. Leoncio Cirunay (GSC), commander of the 22nd IB Philippine Army; and Dr. Roland P. Villanueva, member of the NCF Board of Trustees & consultant for External Affairs.
NCF’s ROTC cadets and Criminology interns ensured peace and order to the event while Nursing volunteers were assigned to various stations, providing participants with initial medical aid.
Besides the usual general check-up, the mission supplied assistance in various special medical fields including OB Gynecology, Ear-Nose-Throat, Eye Refraction, Pediatrics, Cardiopulmonary and Dental Services.
Various private companies and government agencies, including army personnel, provided medicine and service donations to support the Bombo Medico.
