NAGA CITY— The Rotary Club of Naga-Camarines Sur (RCNCS) headed by its president Chingsan Rañola in partnership with the Alviar Medical Laboratories conducted last Oct. 31, this year, its 7th year Watch-Your-Health Lingap Kalusugan Project at the Naga City Gymnasium, here.
Watch-Your-Health, which is one of the centerpiece programs of the RCNCS, caters to patients who are mostly from poor families who are suspected and having been diagnosed earlier to be suffering from chronic diseases by offering low cost laboratory tests.
The partnership between the two generous institutions has allowed last Saturday more than 1, 200 patients to avail the executive laboratory check up for only P280 each, well below as compared to the prevailing price of P980 to P2, 000.
Rtn. Jose C. Rañola, M.D., a RCNCS member, said Watch-Your-Health project was conceived in 1974 during his days in the Kiwanis Club which was known to be very active in pursuing medical missions in the city and some municipalities in Camarines Sur until the defunct civic club ceased to exist in 1985.
Since year 2003, the medical project is being undertaken by the RCNCS with the Alviar Medical Laboratories (AML), a reputable diagnostic company with branches in Makati, Manila and Parañaque.
Rañola said Faustino G. Alviar, founder of Alviar Diagnostic Laboratory and Alviar Biomedical Laboratory, partners with RCNCS to pursue his own mission of providing low cost medical check ups to patients who wish to undergo ECG examinations and other medical tests like blood sugar, T. Cholesterol, BUN, uric acid, SGPT, CBC (which includes four tests) and urinalysis.
The Watch-Your-Health project last Saturday was assisted by licensed nurses and medical technologists coming from the St. John Hospital.
