MANILA – Mayor Antonio B. Chavez of the municipality of San Jose in Camarines Sur attended the 65th anniversary of the Liberal Party (LP) held on Jan. 19, this year at the Heroes Hall, Malacañang Palace, here.
Chavez is the only municipal mayor from Camarines Sur invited to attend the important event.
More than 200 LP leaders from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao including LP senators, congressmen, governors, mayors and other ranking party members were present.
Former Senator Mar Roxas was re-elected president of the Liberal Party while President Benigno C. Aquino III was chosen as chairman.
During the occasion, national and local party leaders were given a chance to talk with President Aquino. Chavez took this opportunity to seek financial support to his pet projects in San Jose. The president reportedly assured the mayor that the former will extend full financial assistance to the latter’s development projects in his town.
